Windows 7 can not connect to my wireless network with error "Windows was unable to connect to [network name] network"
Hi all, I am using D-link DIR-600 wireless router and D-Link DWA-525 desktop adapters to connect to my wireless network. Using WPA2-Personal security... When I try to connect with DWA-525 utility, it connects within seconds but when I disconnect from D-link utility and try to connect with windows7 utility then it fails, and after asking the secret key, it shows the error "Windows was unable to connect to [network name]". I also tired to disable the security from my router but that didn't helped... I am using Windows7 64bit on both the computers. Can someone help me please Kind regards Murtaza

Hi, Is there any other network adapters installed? You can test the network adapter with another computer without problem and see if the issue occurs. If so, please access Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG. If it still fails, please kindly share with the NETSH RAS logs of the Client: 1. Open an command prompt with admin privilege 2. Netsh ras set trac * en 3. Repro the scenario (try to connect to the server) 4. Netsh ras set trac * dis 5. Send all the files located at %Windir%\tracing\ Please sent this log for me, since it contains many important information. ... Can someone help me please ... This would seem to be an old thread, but I searched & searched and finally found the remedy, and thought I'd leave it here in a thread that is properly named ... My symptoms: My DWA-525 might connect to my home wifi router but it would soon disconnect. In fact, I could ping the gateway, and 5 seconds later not be able to ping the gateway. The DNS server address would come & go the same way ... I found the remedy as the best answer in this forum's topic: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/40252-42-wifi-card-disconnect-game-launch (jgutz2006's reply) which actually suggests a driver different from D-Link's own, and you do have to run an install exe, rather than point the driver wizard at an INF and a collection of driver files. This may make you nervous, but I can attest that it works, and your D-Link device will still show as it should. I'm in fact addressing this topic from the same computer ... HTH, and Cheerios from the Avalon Peninsula :)
